Did you know that juice is NOT considered a "healthy" drink?  Don't get me wrong, 100% fruit juice drinks are much better than Kool-Aid, Capri's and even regular Gatorade.  The problem is we are meant to eat fruit in their natural state.  The fiber from natural fruit is much higher and when fruit is squeezed you are still missing some of the vital nutrients.  Even fruits are supposed to be eaten in moderation.  If you are on a 1600 caloric diet 3 fruits a day is all you're supposed to consume.  Berries are the best with the least amount of sugar and are high in anti-oxidants.  Many Mom's, including myself, thought kids were supposed to have juice - as the market for it is extremely high.  Think about all the commercials that are out there for kids drinks.  If your child eats fruit then that's all he or she needs!  The only reason to give your child fruit is if they will NOT eat fruit and even then make sure to stick to 100% fruit juice.
