12/15/09 Katie's Healthy Eating Journal: Tuesday

by Katie (Jenny Craig 2009 Poster Girl) 15. December 2009 18:54

Holy smokes!  According to homecentral.com the average weight gain for adults from Thanksgiving to New Year's is SEVEN, I repeat SEVEN pounds!  That's a lot; we all know seven may be easy to gain but it sure can take forever coming off.  I understand there is an increase of fatty foods, alcohol, and busy schedules which may lead to a lack of working out but wow, seven is definitely hefty.  Just as the website recommends so does my Jenny Craig consultant: don't deprive yourself of the delicious food, drinks, and fun times.  Watch your portions and make sure to keep up your activity level and you may even find that you maintained during the holiday season!  Just keep focused and balance your day.  If you look forward to Grandma's cookies once a year then darn it, you should eat one.  ONE.  Then decide to walk away from the desserts.  Pick and choose what food choices are most important to you.  Stay away easy finger foods that are filled with calories and fat, m&m's, puppy chow mix, chips, veggies with fatty ranch.  Focus on the high calorie foods that are what you really and truly want to have such as a piece of peanut butter pie because it's your favorite.  Be careful and aware and you'll survive!
